DE music
Admission Requirements
The competition is open to candidates who meet the following requirements:
- Be a maximum age of 30 years old on December 31 in the year of registration
- Hold the DEM or DNOP , or be registered in the 2nd or 3rd year in the Preparatory Class for Higher Studies (CPES) in Music
- Hold a high-school diploma or a diploma recognised as equivalent.
In addition to the above conditions, foreign applicants must provide:
- proof of foreign diplomas translated into French,
- certificate of equivalency of the foreign diploma corresponding to the high-school diploma or degree as set out by the body ENIC NARIC,
- valid visa or residence card,
- French language level certificate (TCF B2, TEF, DELF B2 or DALF C1).
Entrance examination
Candidates who wish to enter initial training leading to a diploma must take all of the examinations. Absence from any of the examinations is grounds for elimination. As the terms and conditions of each of the examinations are subject to change, candidates are required to take note of the specificities of the current year’s examinations, which will be published each year on the isdaT website.
However, the general terms and conditions of these examinations are as follows:
Oral examinations
- Instrumental skills: instrumental interpretation (the terms and conditions of the examinations may differ depending on the disciplines, fields and options chosen by the candidates, who should refer to the documents available on the website for further information from the day of pre-registration for the entrance exam).
- Communication skills, general knowledge and motivations: individual interview with the jury.
Registration and tuition fees
The registration fee for the entrance examination is 54 euros. The tuition fees for initial training are 250 euros for the year 2024-2025 (250 euros for scholarship holders) + the cost of registration at the University of Toulouse — Jean Jaurès).

Our music courses are listed on the ParcourSup platform, but registration for the entrance exam takes place on our website. The isdaT is not one of the choices to be entered on the platform.

DNSPM
Admission Requirements
The competition is open to candidates who meet the following requirements:
- Be a maximum age of 30 years old on December 31 in the year of registration
- Hold the DEM or DNOP, or be registered in the 2nd or 3rd year in the Preparatory Class for Higher Studies (CPES) in Music
- Hold a high-school diploma or a diploma recognised as equivalent.
In addition to the above conditions, foreign applicants must provide:
- proof of foreign diplomas translated into French,
- certificate of equivalency of the foreign diploma corresponding to the high-school diploma or degree as set out by the body ENIC NARIC,
- valid visa or residence card,
- French language level certificate (TCF B2, TEF, DELF B2 or DALF C1).
Entrance examination
The entrance examination includes oral tests (instrumental or vocal), an interview and a written test for the contemporary music course. The order of these tests may vary from year to year. Absence from any of the examinations is grounds for elimination. The candidates who have obtained the best results in all of the tests are admitted to training, depending on the number of places available for enrolment each year.
As the terms and conditions of each of the tests are subject to change, candidates are required to familiarize themselves with the specific features of the current year’s tests, which are published each year on the isdaT website.
However, the general arrangements for these tests are as follows:
Classical music oral examinations
- Instrumental or vocal performance of a programme lasting approximately 20 minutes, chosen from a programme defined by discipline, which can be sent to candidates on request or consulted on the website from the start of pre-registration;
- Depending on the instrument, a sight-reading of a short compulsory piece, including a preparation lasting the same amount of time as the piece.
Current music oral examinations
- First round at a distance
A maximum of 12 minutes of an eclectic programme that will enable the jury to assess the candidate’s technical and instrumental qualities and his or her commitment to interpretation. The candidate will perform in a group for this programme. - Second round in presence
— 5 to 7 minutes solo, with a personal composition and an improvisation
— Deciphering test: 10 minutes in the box to prepare a piece to be performed.
— 10-minute interview.
Interview
- For all disciplines: interview with the jury lasting approximately 10 minutes, focusing on the candidate’s musical culture, artistic and professional project and motivations. The interview panel will take into account all the factors that will enable it to judge the soundness and coherence of the professional project, the candidate’s availability to follow the entire course, and his/her motivation to follow a course combining higher music education and university education.
Registration and tuition fees
The registration fee for the entrance examination is 54 euros.
The tuition fees for initial training for the year 2024-2025*:
- 310 euros for the first year of DNSPM (100 euros for scholarship holder)
- 310 euros for the 2nd and 3rd year of DNSPM for the performing artist and the Orchestral conducting options (100 euros for scholarship holder)
- 400 euros for the 2nd and 3rd year of DNSPM for the pedagogy and the preparation for a profession in orchestra options (100 euros for scholarship holder).

Master in Creation with Organ
Admission Requirements
Candidates for the competitive examination must have an excellent academic record and hold a Master in Organ or the following two diplomas:
- DNSPM (or equivalent)
- Bachelor degree
Candidates who do not meet the conditions set out above can request exemption from the director of the establishment. There is no age limit.
In addition to the above conditions, foreign applicants must provide:
- supporting documents for foreign diplomas,
- certificate of equivalency of the foreign diploma corresponding to the high-school diploma or degree as set out by the body ENIC NARIC
- valid visa or residence card,
- French language level certificate (TCF B2, TEF, DELF B2 or DALF C1).
Foreign candidates must meet the specific admission requirements to the University (for more information, refer to the Toulouse – Jean Jaurès University website).
