Damien-Loup Vergne
Born in Toulouse, Damien-Loup Vergne began studying the double bass at the Conservatoire National de Région de Toulouse under Philippe Juncker. There he won a gold medal in music theory and a unanimous first prize in double bass in 2002. It was that same year that he met Vincent Pasquier, solo double bass of the Orchestre de Paris, with whom he unanimously won his first double bass prize in 2004 from the Conservatoire Supérieur de Paris. Successively a member of the Orchestre Français des Jeunes from 2000 to 2003 and of the European Union Youth Orchestra from 2003 to 2004, he also completed an internship with the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse in 2002 ( AIDA), as well as the Orchestre de Paris during the 2003-2004 season. After becoming solo double bass for the Orchestre de l’Opéra de Rouen in 2003, he joined the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse in 2004, where he became solo double bass in 2008. He also became professor of double bass at the CRR de Toulouse in 2011 and at the isdaT in 2013.
Damien-Loup Vergne lends his support in particular within the framework of the “Preparation for a profession in orchestra” stream and since 2012 has been offering regular visits from Cédric Carlier.
