Karina Cobo
Originally from Colombia and living in France since 1999, Karina Cobo Dorado is a clarinetist, teacher, trainer and researcher in music education. She holds a Doctorate in Music with a focus on Pedagogy followed by the qualification “Lecturer”, a Master in Educational Sciences and a DE in clarinet. She is currently a lecturer and coordinator of the fundamental pedagogy module at the University of Toulouse — Jean Jaurès in partnership with isdaT, where she simultaneously looks after the monitoring of educational projects, clarinet tutoring, music lessons, introduction to dissertation and practical teaching workshops as part of the DE (State Diploma) curriculum.
Lecturer at the Pôle Sup’ 93 and at the PESMD in Bordeaux, she is also a teacher at the National Centre for Territorial Public Service of collective music education and educational innovation. Since 2014, she has been invited to give lessons and conferences at the CNSMD in Paris, CNSMD in Lyon, Philharmonie de Paris, Hautes Écoles de Musique in Lausanne and Geneva, Association Conservatoires de France, EAFIT University in Medellin, National University of Colombia and various conservatories in France.
The complementary nature of her experience in teaching musical instruments and her various research in musical education have led her to participate in numerous conferences and congresses in France, Switzerland, Spain, Canada and Colombia. Karina Cobo Dorado is author of the book La pédagogie de groupe dans les cours d’instruments de musique and of several articles on music education. Today, she teaches the clarinet at the conservatories of Colomiers and St. Orens and is active as a clarinetist with the Ensemble de Clarinettes d’Occitanie. Member of the research group EMIS (Music education and social integration) at the University of Toulouse — Jean Jaurès and interested in the role of music in society, in 2020 she completed a specialisation in “Culture of peace and social reform: practical applications” at the University of Barcelona.
